Alleged house robber arrested in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth

A 38-year-old New Brighton man is in police custody after being arrested in connection with a house robbery in Summerstand.

Captain Johan Rheeder says the owner of a house in Gomery Place, Summerstrand, surprised an intruder who was busy packing household items into a bag at around 9.30 on Wednesday morning.

Rheeder says the 57-year-old woman screamed and the suspect grabbed her by her arm.

Her husband confronted the suspect and managed to overpower him.

Rheeder says police were summoned and arrested the suspect who will appear in court soon on a charge of house robbery.
