One of the two men arrested for the August murder of Constable Simphiwe Sahluko was denied bail by the East London Magistrates Court on Friday.
Sinethemba Mtshini was arrested at the city's airport with his co-accused Andile Marwanqa, who abandoned his bid for bail at their previous court appearance.
Sahluko was shot several times outside his mother’s shebeen in the Nompumelelo Township near Beacon Bay.
Both men, who are 30 years old, are facing charges of murder and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In denying bail, Magistrate Joel Ceasar said that there was strong evidence against Marwanqa, who was out bail pending other cases against him.
He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on 6 December.
