The case against a Port Elizabeth man, accused of abducting and raping two young girls, aged 5 and 6, in New Brighton last month, has been postponed to Friday.
The 49-year-old man was arrested following a massive search for the girls, who were reported missing on the 21st of last month.
The missing 6-year-old girl was found beaten and stabbed near the Chevrolet Stadium while the 5-year-old was later found in the man's bed in his shack.
During proceedings on Thursday, the magistrate said he could not accommodate the suspect's request to be held at New Brighton police station as he fears for his life.
The magistrate said that only the Department of Correctional Services can decide if he would receive a single cell.
A small group of community members protested outside the court.
