Thousands of participants in the annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer will be converging on The Boardwalk from Thursday, October 27.
While registering on the Thursday and Friday from one in the afternoon until seven in the evening participants and other members of the public can also have a free health screening.
Medical professionals from the Eastern Cape Department of Health will test for hypertension, diabetes, prostate cancer, blood pressure, glucose levels, tuberculosis, blood cancer and breast cancer.
Information leaflets on health issues such as tuberculosis, family planning, cervical cancer and the dangers of smoking, drugs and alcohol will also be distributed at the information kiosks.
Entertainment will be provided by DJs KayCee Rossouw and Charlton Tobias with the Algoa FM Vibe Mobile.
On Saturday a section of Marine Drive in Summerstrand will be closed for the annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, which aims to attract thousands of walkers.
Beneficiaries of the 18th annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer are the Igazi Foundation, CANSA and CHOC.
It is being held from The Boardwalk from eight on Saturday, October 29.
Marine Drive will be closed from Brookes Hill Drive until Admiralty Way from seven until 10 in the morning.
Manual entries can be done at the sports shops until 5pm on Monday, 24 October 2016, including Brian Bands in Cape Road, and Total Sports at Cleary Park Shopping Centre and Baywest Mall.
The online entry portal will be available until 5pm on Wednesday, 26 October on www.algoafm.co.za and walkers can still enter at registration on Thursday, 27 and Friday, 28 October at the Boardwalk Expo Level-1.
