Agri Eastern Cape is seeking an urgent meeting with police management in the Eastern Cape on the situation in Kirkwood.
The town has effectively come to a standstill amid a violent protest by farmworkers seeking higher wages among other demands.
One person has already died in clashes between protesters and SAPS and private security personnel employed by farmers.
Agri Eastern Cape CEO, Brent McNamara, says what's happening in Kirkwood are acts of terrorism, and he says SAPS are not nearly doing enough to get the situation under control.
He says they're now demanding a formal meeting with the Provincial leadership of the South African Police Service.
Meanwhile, hundreds of farmworkers and residents are expected to be addressed by SANCO's provincial secretary Tony Duba in Kirkwood on Thursday.
Freelance reporter, Thamsanqa Mbovane, who has been covering the unrest in the Eastern Cape town, says this follows ongoing protests by farmworkers demanding R30 per hour across all farms in the Sundays River Valley Municipality.
He says Kirkwood's CBD remains closed, with public transport not allowed to ferry passengers to the townships.
Mbovane says Duba is one of SANCO's leaders leading discussions with farmers and their employees, trying to find a solution to the impasse.
