Adelaide traffic department destroyed in fire

A fire has engulfed a building housing the Adelaide traffic department causing millions of rands in damage.

Police spokesperson, Captain Stefanie Smith, says the cause of Thursday's fire is not yet known.

She says a forensic team will be dispatched to the scene to investigate.

Smith says the team will investigate whether the fire was caused by an electrical fault or set deliberately.

An inquest was opened.

There were no reports of any injuries.
