A warrant of arrest had been issued against a former ANC activist from East London who claimed to have delivered a R5 million bribe to a judge on the instruction of Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane.
Thirty-one-year-old Phadima Fukula was arrested by the Hawks in February last year after a year-long search, and now he is missing yet again.
A spokesperson for police Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana says he is expected to appear in the East London Magistrates Court on the 29th of August but cannot be found for a summons to be served on him.
Fukula laid charges against Mabuyane and Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo in April of 2021, before disappearing.
He is facing charges of perjury after police discovered conflicting versions of his case.
Fukula first opened a case in Gauteng in February of 2021 and a month later in East London before he mysteriously disappeared.
Premier Mabuyane subsequently opened a case of crimen injuria against Fukula.
During the initial investigation, the Hawks traced Fukula who allegedly admitted to having been used by some individuals to make false allegations against the pair.
