The Hawks have confirmed the arrest on Friday of the Acting City Manager in Nelson Mandela Bay as well as the director of a private entity Jeke and Qadi Trading CC.
A spokesperson for the Hawks Captain Llyod Ramovha confirmed the arrests and said the suspects could not be named until they have appeared in court.
They were arrested for alleged fraud and corruption in terms of the Corruption Activities Act.
According to the Hawks, the charges against him are based on actions within the Municipality’s department of human settlements, where he previously worked as the housing delivery director he also allegedly received a bribe of R900 000 to award a housing tender.
The suspects are expected to appear in court on Friday morning.
The Democratic Alliance has welcomed the arrests.
