Five people have died in head-on collisions on the N2 in the Transkei.
Provincial traffic spokesperson Tshepo Machaea says four people died between Mthatha and Dutywa when a truck and a bakkie collided.
In the other accident, one person was killed in a collision between Mount Frere and Mount Ayliff.
Four people were injured, three of whom are in a critical condition in the Mount Ayliff Hospital.
