A Name change for Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University?

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University will be undergoing a name change, albeit just a slight amendment to the current moniker.

In terms of a notice in the government gazette about a week ago, Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande, decreed that henceforth the institution will be simply be known as Nelson Mandela University.

No reasons were given and university management is remaining tight-lipped about the name change.It's believed that formal announcement will be made in due course.
