462 000 jobs could be created in the EC by green economy

Metro minute reports that around 462 000 employment opportunities could be created in the Eastern Cape in the formal economy in the long term by the unfolding green economy.
The Eastern Cape Development Corporation says in its Annual Report that in response to the growing demand for skills in the renewable energy sector it has joined forces with the East London Industrial Development Zone to establish a Renewable Energy Training Centre.
Five renewable energy projects worth R8.6 billion have already been awarded to the province.
The ECDC says its envisaged that the availability of trained people in this field will encourage foreign and local investors to invest in the renewable energy field.
