14 year old girl found after falling into canal in Kirkwood

Community Members  found the body of a 14 year-old girl who fell into an irrigation canal at Moses Mabida location at Kirkwood on Monday. 

Police Warrant Officer Gerda Swart said the body of Asemahle April was found at around 9 o'clock on Wednesday, some 15 kilometres from where she had fallen into the canal. 

A large search operation was conducted by various role players since the report was received on Monday that April had fallen into the canal. 

Kirkwood Police have opened an inquest docket.
