An alleged gang member is languishing in jail for pointing a firearm at a woman in Nelson Mandela Bay’s Northern Areas.
Police say Ighaan Mallick allegedly pointed a firearm at the 45-year-old complainant in Zimdahl street last Saturday morning when she berated him as he passed her house on his skateboard.
The 28-year-old Mallick was subsequently arrested on Wednesday this week when he was apprehended by police who found a 9 mm Taurus firearm and 16 rounds of ammunition in his possession.
Ownership of the firearm is yet to be established.
Mallick appeared in the Gelvandale magistrate’s court on Thursday on charges of pointing a firearm and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He was remanded in custody and will be back in court on the 1st of September for a formal bail application.
