'Missing' woman from George facing multiple fraud charges

Benit Joy "Bonnie" 63

Six fraud cases have been laid by George residents against a businesswoman from Pacaltsdorp who has been reported missing by her husband.

Police are still searching for the 63-year-old Benit Joy Brink-Lawrence, also known as Bonny, who was last seen on the 15th of January when she boarded a Bolt to take her to a medical facility in George.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says they interviewed the driver and it is alleged that she was dropped off in a parking area near York Street but never returned home.

Spies says the search has been expanded to other parts of the country.

The George Herald reports that apart from the fraud cases laid against Lawrence in George, there are also allegedly several cases in Gauteng and Cape Town.

It is believed that these cases will be centralised to George.

According to the complainants, they invested money through Lawrence’s company, BBL Global Corporation.

All the money was supposed to be invested offshore.

The search for Bonny continues.
