The planet Venus will cross between Earth and the sun on Wednesday in a rare astronomical event.
According to a report on Tuesday this phenomenon has only happened six times in recorded history.
The next time Venus crosses the face of the sun will be in December 2117.
The event would be partially visible from parts of South Africa, but those living on the KwaZulu-Natal coast would have the best view.
Authorities say people wanting to watch the celestial event should use eclipse glasses to avoid damaging their eyes.
