US President Donald Trump has announced that he and his wife Melania have both tested positive for the coronavirus.
CNN reports that the development comes in the final stretch of his re-election campaign in which he has flouted experts' guidance on preventing the disease's spread.
The diagnosis amounts to the most serious known health threat to a sitting American president in decades.
The 74-year-old Trump tweeted that he and his wife had both tested positive for COVID-19 and would begin their quarantine and recovery process immediately.
Later, the first lady wrote on Twitter that she and her husband were "feeling good."
Trump was last seen in public yesterday afternoon, returning to the White House after a fundraising trip to New Jersey.
