The Department of International Relations says the two people abducted in the Yemeni town of Taiz, are indeed South Africans.
Spokesperson, Clayson Monyela says they are believed to have been involved in the development of the hotel from which they were abducted on Monday.
He says details are still sketchy, but they are thought to be involved in a hotel development dispute between the landlord and other parties.
Monyela says the South African ambassador will engage with authorities today to intervene and assist.
