The Red Location Museum is now the third biggest attraction in Nelson Mandela Bay after the Boardwalk and beaches, according to a report to the Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture Committee.
The report says that 105 361 people visited the complex in the first 11 months of last year which is possibly five times as many as those who visited the National Art Gallery in Cape Town and twice as many as the number that went to the District Six Museum.
The report says it is about the same number who visited the Apartheid Museum at Gold Reef City.
The report says that it is now extremely urgent that the art gallery and digital library complex that both include toilets should be opened to ease the pressure on the museum’s facilities.
