Mcdonald's pulls out of Russia

McDonalds

Global fast good giant McDonalds has condemned the conflict in Ukraine, calling it a humanitarian crisis causing unspeakable suffering to innocent people.

Company CEO Chris Kempczinski says they opened their first branch in Russia over 30-years ago and currently employ 62 000 people in the country.

He says McDonald’s has decided to temporarily close all their restaurant outlets in Russia and pause all operations in the market.

He says because they understand the impact it will have on their colleagues in Russia they will be continuing salaries for their workers in the country.

Kempczinski says McDonald’s will continue to assess the situation and determine if any additional measures are required.

" At this juncture, it’s impossible to predict when we might be able to reopen our restaurants in Russia."

Scores of international companies have already indicated their intention to suspend or terminate their operations in Russia.
