Bridgestone
Bridgestone has become the latest company to condemn the Russia/Ukraine violence and decided to suspend their manufacturing activities in Russia, until further notice.
The tyre manufacturer says for this to happen, certain preparations need to be put in place and therefore their decision will come into effect on Friday.
They also decided to freeze any new investments and suspend all exports to Russia with immediate effect.
In a statement issued on Monday, Bridgestone said they continue to care for their more than 1 000 employees in the passenger tyre production plant in Ulyanovsk and their sales offices, so will support them financially.
The company says more than 2.5 million people have already fled their homes in Ukraine in the past two weeks in a war that is having a profound impact on the entire world.
Bridgestone is just the latest in a string of multi-national companies, from global fast-food chains to automobile manufacturers, to express their condemnation of Russia's actions and to suspend their operations in that country.
