Liz Truss is the new leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom.
She won a hard-fought campaign against ex-finance minister Rishi Sunak to be named on Monday as successor to Boris Johnson, following his acrimonious resignation earlier this year.
Johnson suffered an unprecedented revolt from within the Conservative party ranks, but in her acceptance speech, Truss said his legacy would remain intact.
She ended her speech by pledging to win the next general election in 2024, insisting that she will deliver.
Truss will officially become UK Prime Minister on Tuesday after travelling to meet the Queen at Balmoral in Scotland.
