Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has lost his libel claim against British tabloid The Sun, over a 2018 article where they referred to him as a wife-beater.
Depp, who sued the tabloid in a much-publicised trial in July, denied being a wife-beater and stated that his ex-wife Amber Heard's allegations were hurting his career.
During the trial which took place in London, the court heard about the toxic and violent relationship between Heard and Depp, which was fueled by alcohol and drugs.
During the trial, Depp claimed that the abuse allegations cost him his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise which was taken over by Disney in 2018.
Both parties will now be allowed to make written submissions to the court.
Depp fans on Twitter were left outraged at the ruling.
The Hollywood heartthrob is currently filming the third instalment of JK Rowlings " Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them".
