A Zimbabwean human rights groups say at least 12 people were killed, at least 78 shot in a crackdown on protests that began on Monday over a dramatic rise in fuel prices.
The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum said in a statement that more than 240 people had been assaulted while 466 people arrested in the past week.
According to the NGO children as young as 9 years old have reportedly been tortured as security forces entered private homes.
Zimbabwe’s internet connectivity was partially restored on Friday after state security minister Owen Ncube ordered a total shutdown on Wednesday night again.
The country has been on a knife-edge since Monday after fuel price hikes of more three hundred percent, a declining economy and a 2% tax on mobile money transactions.
