The former Miss Universe is about to flex her acting muscles alongside the brilliant American actress and producer, Viola Davis, in the historical film The Woman King.
Written by Dana Stevens and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, in addition to Davis, it stars Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, and John Boyega. The film is scheduled to be theatrically released by Sony Pictures on September 16.
Davis is an Academy Award, Primetime Emmy Award, and two-time Tony Awards winner, making her the first African-American to achieve what is dubbed the "Triple Crown of Acting". In 2012 and 2017 Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
It's no surprise Zozi is over the moon. She took to social media to say that she was honored and excited at the prospect of featuring in the movie, there was no indication as to what her role would be.
I am so honored and excited to announce that I have been cast for the film, The Woman King. It is a completely new world and first time experience for me so I enter it with the utmost respect and humility. Forever grateful and looking forward ?
