The three-year-old Great Dane, Zeus, the tallest male dog in the world, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning September 12 following treatment for an aggressive form of bone cancer.
Following the diagnosis, Zeus had his right front right leg amputated but in a tragic turn of events, the beloved pooch developed pneumonia after the operation.
He would have turned four in November.
Zeuas earned the record title and made it into the Guinness World Records in 2022 after measuring in at 1.046 m (3 ft 5.18 in) tall.
According to Guinness World Records Zeus died with his head in his mom Brittany Davis’ lap.
“Zeus, who lived in Bedford, Texas, USA, enjoyed a lot of attention during his tragically short life thanks to his record-breaking size.”
Brittany said: "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved dog, Zeus, the Guinness World Records title holder for the tallest living male dog. Zeus died Tuesday morning of amputation-related pneumonia. Zeus died with his head in his mom’s lap getting ear scratches and kisses until the very end”.
