Jeopardy! game show host Alex Trebek died on Sunday at the age of 80 while still working as the quizmaster of one of the world’s most popular game shows.
According to the show’s official Twitter account, he died at home surrounded by family and friends after having been diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in March last year.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined fans on Twitter in paying tribute saying,” We have lost an icon. Almost every night for more than three decades, Alex Trebek entertained and educated millions around the world, instilling in so many of us a love for trivia. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who are mourning this tremendous loss”.

Jeopardy! has won more than 30 Daytime Emmys, including multiple wins for Outstanding Game Show and Game Show Host. Trebek had been contracted to host Jeopardy! until 2022.
