Filmmaker, Phil Beastall, has proved with one short clip that you do not need to spend millions to touch the hearts of people at Christmas. Thus far, his budget festive film has amassed more than five million views on Facebook.
The 32-year-old said he had posted it in response to the giant chain store’s John Lewis ad which cost £7million to make and stars none other than Elton John. Phil made the short clip back in 2014, called Love is a gift, it has been viewed millions of times and received thousands of comments. In fact, fans were so impressed they suggested that John Lewis hire Phil to work on their next festive ad.
In an interview with Sky News Phil Beastall said "I wanted people to watch it and although initially, they might feel sad, I wanted them to reflect on it and perhaps turn to a loved one and give them a cuddle or say 'I love you' and reflect on life itself and appreciate just how lucky we are to be here, but the reaction has just been incredible.
One twitter comment read: "John Lewis marketing 'experts' should watch and weep".
Take a look right here! Well done Phil!
Off the back of the John Lewis Christmas advert I wanted to share my very own Christmas film which I made back in 2014.#christmas #JohnLewisChristmasAd https://t.co/kzxgQFoyOS
