WATCH: US General Manager of TikTok hits back at Trump

Vanessa Pappas

She is a force to be reckoned with and she has called Trump out over the issue of the proposed banning of TikTok - her name is Vanessa Pappas and she is the former YouTube Global Head of Creative Insights.

Pappas the first-ever General Manager for TikTok’s US operations, has taken to Twitter to strongly express her feelings about the proposed ban saying :

"We've hired nearly 1,000 people to our US team this year alone, and are proud to be hiring another 10,000 employees into great paying jobs across the US.

"Our $1bn creator fund supports US creators who are building livelihoods from our platform. And when it comes to security we're building the safest app because we know it's the right thing to do."

In speaking to the media Trump has been quoted as saying that the app“continues to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States”. Last week  Trump, signed an executive order that will force the sale of TikTok to a U.S. company or ban it from the country.

According to Variety Trump cited the app’s ties to China as a threat to national security and data privacy, saying that its collection of data on U.S. citizens could “potentially [allow] China to track the locations of Federal employees and contractors, build dossiers of personal information for blackmail, and conduct corporate espionage.”
