WATCH: Unique ‘space bubble’ concert a socially distant first

The worlds first ever 'space bubble concert' in action

The Flaming Lips is a rock band formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, fronted by  Wayne Coyne, the band recently pulled off a couple of innovative socially distant live gigs. Dubbed 'The Worlds First Space Bubble Concert', the shows were a sell-out!

Each show accommodated a live audience by having them watch the concert from inside large inflatable balls that can hold up to three people each.

According to Coyne, the performances were "safer than going to the grocery store".

Inside each bubble was a high-frequency supplemental speaker, so that the sound would not be muffled in any way, a water bottle, a battery-operated fan, a towel and an "I gotta go pee/hot in here" sign.

If the bubble became too hot, it was refilled with cool air using a leaf blower, and concert-goers who needed the bathroom were escorted by staff once they had put on a mask.

Coyne posted a video explaining how it would all work ahead of the events.

And here it is. - the worlds first space bubble concert in action. Could it become the norm for the foreseeable future? It just looks way too hot in those bubbles for me.
