WATCH: The Springboks use World Cup scoreline for COVID-19 relief drive

Springbok fans  - your team needs you! A total of 100,000 raffle tickets are being sold to pay for food parcels and soup kitchens for the destitute – in return – you could win some World Cup Springbok memorabilia.

Speaking to Algoa FM’s Breakfast Show this morning Springbok centre, Lukhanyo Am, told Wayne Hart that the amount was decided upon by using the scoreline from their World Cup victory last year. The Springboks beat England 32-12 in last November’s final to win the World Cup for the third time – do the math, it’s a lofty goal – let’s help them reach it.

Am told Hart that all monies raised will be donated to the NGO’S Gift of the Givers and Food Forward SA to feed the destitute at this distressing time in our country.

In return, those who buy tickets stand a chance of winning a host of memorabilia from the players personal collections- a total of 44 prizes have been donated by the team. Am said that he had personally donated his complete match day kit which consists of his socks, shorts and rugby jersey.

When asked by Hart if a  particular pair of undies worn by Faf after the match are in the raffle, Am was rather evasive. It remains to be seen whether or not they make it to the list!

As stated on the official Springbok Rugby website, “The Springboks can't sit on the side-lines and do nothing while many South Africans are going hungry. They're giving away the shirts off their backs and the boots off their feet to help raise money for those affected by COVID19. For R32-12 you can have the shirt off Siya’s back, the boots off Bongi’s feet or have a personal Rugby World Cup trophy tour – to your home! – as part of a major new charity initiative launched by SA Rugby on Tuesday.”

But do watch the video – in addition to the actual memorabilia, there are also some incredible experiences up for grabs.
