Swizz Beatz paid tribute to Earl Simmons, more popularly known as DMX at the Billboard Music Awards.
Simmons died of a heart attack in April at the age of 50.
When presenting the award for top rap song Swizz Beatz said, "This year in hip-hop has been really hard.”
“We lost so many amazing souls.”
“We would like to honor their lives, and I would like to honor my brother, DMX, the great.”
Swizz Beats had a close working relationship with DMX.
Together, they produced hits such as “Get it on the floor” and “Ruff Ryder’s Anthem”.
