The 40th Durban International Film Festival has announced that Jahmil X. T. Qubeka's movie, Knuckle City, has been chosen to open the prestigious event.
The festival opens on Thursday, 18 July and runs through to Sunday, 28 July.
Knuckle City was produced and edited by Layla Swart of Yellowbone Entertainment, together with Mzansi Magic, it is the fourth feature film from Qubeka.
Described as a movie about the psychology behind a fighter from Mdantsane Township, it follows the journey of Dudu Nyakama, a down and out ageing boxer as he struggles to find the one fight that he believes will change his life.
The film was shot in East London and stars Siv Ngesi.
