There was no lounging around on the couch for mom to be Katy Perry yesterday afternoon – instead she donned a pink mini and thigh-high boots and entertained a record-breaking crowd for the opening of the Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Final in Melbourne, Australia.
Before the match, Perry took to the pitch at the MCG, and looking every bit the glowing mum-to-be performed her hit singles Roar and Firework. And not looking half as sexy were many of her back up singers who, in a fun touch, were dressed as giant cricket bats.
The fun didn't stop there, after the game, which was won by Australia, the team joined Katy Perry on stage to dance and sing while she belted out Firework again. The game, which was played on International Women’s Day drew a record-breaking crowd of 86,174.
With this performance done and dusted it is now into the Australian bush for Perry as she goes on to perform a free charity concert dubbed Fight On for firefighters and their families this Wednesday. The show is set to take place in the rural Victorian town of Bright, one of the hardest-hit areas of the recent devastating Australian bush fires.
In a press statement, she posted to Instagram Perry said, “As a native Southern Californian, I know firsthand the devastation of wildfire across my home communities, and was particularly (heartbroken emoji) by the Australian bushfires. Australia has always given me so much love and support so FIGHT ON is one way to return that love, and help provide a little bit of joy to a country that’s given me so much joy.”
Katy Perry is currently a judge on American Idol together with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. She dropped her music video for her single Never Worn White last week, revealing at the end of it that she is pregnant with fiancé Orlando Bloom's child. Perry is said to be six months pregnant.
