Despite arriving at the Oscars in a Versace gown and full make-up, the Grammy-winning songstress stripped down to the bare basics to give an emotionally charged performance of "Hold My Hand" at the 2023 Oscars.
The song was nominated for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song) losing out to the song Naatu Naatu from the hit Telugu-language film RRR , which made history by becoming the first Indian film song to win an Oscar.
In stark contrast to the other performers at the awards ceremony, Gaga took to the stage wearing a black T-shirt, ripped jeans, and sneakers, her face bare of any make-up and her hair twisted into a braid. Some have described the performance as " spellbinding."

The 95th Academy Awards was held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Sunday March 12, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
