It’s the kind of song that tugs at your heartstrings, hauntingly delivered by a line up of some of South Africa’s most famous musicians.
Donovan Copley, frontman of Cape Town Afro-Pop band Hot Water, decided to write the song after asking the question,“How can we be of service at this time ?” The brand-new single hopes to raise funds for the COVID-19 feeding scheme and features an impressive line up of celebs such as Passenger, Jeremy Loops, Jules from Goodluck, Arno Carstens, Sandra Prinsloo, David Kramer, Zak Hendrikz, Majoz, and Jack Parow to mention but a few.
In an interview with samusicnews, Donovan Copley explained that as a father to three young boys, when he heard there were kids going hungry during this crisis – it really struck home. “I wrote this song last year as a way to deal with challenges in myself and what I saw others dealing with and in the world.”
This is when he got on the phone and made contact with exceptional filmmaker Uga Carlini and together they gathered together an incredible team of industry heavyweights as well as ordinary folk willing to take part in the fundraising initiative.
In the video you will see SA citizens like Liso, a musician from the KASI RC Shack Theatre in Khayelitsha who says “I became part of this beautiful song because it spoke to me, The mood, the melody and the tune made me dance & move a bit, at least at this time of the pandemic. Also, I could not resist being part of it because the matter that it speaks of affects all of us”. You will also see people from the USA, UK, Italy and Spain, countries that have also been severely affected by the pandemic.
It’s one of the most down to earth productions you will ever see – and also one of the most moving.
Now at a time when hunger seems to be more of a threat to the people of South Africa than the virus, we are being asked to do whatever we can with whatever we have.
All this particular initiative requires is that you watch Home because the copyright income is being donated during this time to the COVID-19 Feeding scheme – “Every click on the video means a gift because YouTube pays per click. So please share this video as much as possible!
Remember, With Every View A Child Gets Food!”
