Fifty-four-year-old Australian superstar Nicole Kidman has come under fire from her fans on social media after the launch of a provocative Vanity Fair cover.
For their 28th annual Hollywood Issue, Vanity Fair featured eight of the world’s most groundbreaking stars in ‘fantastical habitats’ created by artist-photographers Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari.
However, Kidman’s cover has caused something of a social media storm with some questioning the choice of outfit and some calling out the magazine for heavily photoshopping the images.
On the cover, Kidman sports a skimpy two-piece ensemble by fashion brand Mui Mui. A video clip, see below, was also posted on Instagram to launch the special edition - once posted the avalanche of comments began to appear.

"She’s an accomplished actress who’s nominated for an Oscar. Why is she dressed like a schoolgirl? Not cool."
"Love her so much but did we have to style this luminous statuesque woman like a euphoria high schooler with a Charlotte Russe budget."
"This is so painful to look at."
"Nicole has a great body, and that's not her body. Her shape is not like that at all, why do they have to Photoshop?'"
@rybenjamin18 appeared to approve of the look saying :
Hello @rybenjamin18·13hLooking like million bucks. I’ve decided that my kids will not inherit anything from me. It’s all going towards looking half as good as this in 15 years.
The other stars featured in the special Vanity Fair edition are Andrew Garfield, Idris Elba, Kristen Stewart, Simu Liu, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Penélope Cruz.
