WATCH : Barbie unveils Dr Jane Goodall doll

Dr Jane Goodall and her Barbie lookalike

In honor of the famed British conservationist, toymaker Mattel has launched the Dr. Jane Goodall doll as part of their Barbie Inspiring Women series - just in time for World Chimpanzee Day on the 14th of July.

The 88-year-old Dr Goodall is a renowned primatologist and is regarded as the world’s foremost expert on chimpanzees.

Goodall said of the doll, “I’m thrilled to partner with Barbie and encourage young children to learn from their environment and feel a sense that they can make a difference. My entire career, I’ve wanted to help inspire kids to be curious and explore the world around them – just like I did when I first traveled to Tanzania 62 years ago.”

Other dolls in the series include human rights activist Rosa Parks, Helen Adams Keller, author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer, the founder of modern nursing,  Florence Nightingale, and American astronaut and physicist, Sally Ride.
