In what was one of the largest gatherings to be held across the globe in over a year, around 5,000 concertgoers spent Saturday night enjoying a live performance despite the global pandemic.
Spanish authorities told the media that it was a pilot project to ascertain the viability of holding covid-safe mass events following rapid-testing of attendees.
This meant that the concert-goers did not have to remain socially distant but did have to wear masks. A negative result code was sent to the concert-goer's phones, this, together with temperature testing, was checked at the door.
The concert, featuring the band Love of Lesbian, was held at Saint Jordi Arena and followed a similar experiment held in the Netherlands last week where fans attended a two-day music festival after showing proof of a negative covid test.
Could this be the start of live events swinging into action the world over?
