WATCH: 1992 Sarafina movie becomes social media challenge and trends

Actress Lelethi Khumalo is the actress who played the leading role in the 1992 film, Sarafina!

This popular classic tells the story of young black South African’s struggling for freedom during apartheid.

In 2021, in celebration of youth day, Khumalo re-enacted the dance scene from the film with the cast of Imbewu: The seed.

The one-minute video of the cast and Khumalo singing “Freedom is coming tomorrow” received a flurry of positive responses on social media.

Popular South African personality, Somizi who was also part of the original film cast also performed the challenge on his personal Instagram page which received over half a million views.
