Veteran actor and comedian Jerry Stiller passes on at 92

Ben Stiller and father Jerry Stiller

Tributes have been pouring in for one of comedy’s greatest stars, Jerry Stiller. He died at the ripe old age of 92 on Monday of natural causes.

His son Ben Stiller announced his passing on social media saying in his post, “I'm sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes. He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you dad.”

Jerry will always be remembered for his role as George Costanzas' father Frank in Seinfeld, a role which gave his career a huge boost in 1993 and even earned him an Emmy nomination.

When Seinfeld went off air in 1998, Stiller took on the role of the eccentric Arthur Spooner in the hit comedy series The King of Queens – while the role did not bring him another Emmy nomination, it was a part for which he earned much global acclaim.

Jerry and his son Ben appeared in many a movie together, most notably Zoolander 1 and 2, The Heartbreak Kid, Hot Pursuit and Heavyweights.

RIP Jerry Stiller – thank you for the laughter you brought into our lives.
