The NSA announced in August this year that there was a very real possibility of their having to close their doors due to the economic uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
But, thanks to Universal Music that is no longer going to happen. Taking to Twitter they thanked the music giant for "stepping up and supporting the NSA" with the generous gift of R1.5m .

The school receives R3m each year from the government’s school of specialisation budget and it also receives funding of R2.8m from the department of education. However, many parents this year were simply not able to pay school fees of any kind due to financial hardships caused by the virus.
The arts school is situated in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, and is home to almost 600 pupils pursuing their love of the arts in its various forms. The college was born out of the amalgamation of The Johannesburg Art, Ballet, Drama and Music School and Hoërskool Die Kruin which were opened in 1969.
The NSA can proudly boast having had Charlize Theron as one of its pupils. And despite the passage of time, there's no mistaking it's her in the yearbook picture below.
