The indefatigable 81-year-old Tina Turner's new documentary titled TINA is her final adieu to public life.
In the documentary, the legendary rock star sits down to have a candid and in-depth discussion about her troubled past, life as a rock star, and living with PTSD. The film documents her rise to superstardom from extremely humble beginnings as a girl from “the cotton fields.”
Together with her former husband, Ike Turner, they enjoyed huge success during the late 1960s and early 70s. They divorced in 1978 after a tumultuous marriage in which Tina says she was physically abused by Ike. Ike died of a cocaine overdose in 2007.
Launching her solo career in the 1980s, she went on to become an eight-time Grammy winner. In 1995 she moved to Switzerland to join her German-born record producer husband Bach and in 2009 retired from performing after a sold-out farewell tour. She came out of retirement to unveil Tina - The Tina Turner Musical in 2017.
This documentary, Turner says, is her farewell to public life.
TINA will be released on Saturday in the US by HBO and premieres in Britain on Sky Documentaries, NOW, and Altitude Film on Sunday.
