TikTok wants you to make longer videos!


The globe’s largest short-clip social media platform is looking for its users to make longer videos.

TikTok, owned by China's Bytedance Inc., wants to introduce an option over the next few weeks to let users on its platform create videos up to three minutes in length.

The app currently allows its users to record mobile-friendly videos that can last up to 60 seconds with the option of adding special effects as well as soundtracks lifted from a music library.

In a social media post the company said, "Over the coming weeks, we'll be rolling out the option to create longer videos to everyone on TikTok, giving our global community the flexibility to film, upload and edit videos up to three minutes in length directly within TikTok."

In the three years, after it launched in September 2016, TikTok acquired 800 million active users.] Its users include Zach King, Loren Gray, Baby Ariel, Lisa and Lena, Will Smith, Dwayne Johnson, Brent Rivera, Addison Rae, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello, Lilly Singh, Selena Gomez, Noah Schnapp, and Charli D'Amelio, the most-followed individual on the platform.

According to Omnicoreagency  53 percent of TikTok users are male and  47 percent are female, 41 percent are aged between 16 and 24.
