The Lion King remake has become Disney’s highest-grossing live-action remake during its opening weekend across the globe.
Jon Favreau's realistic remake of the 1994 animated classic has taken the world by storm while at the same time dividing opinion along the way.
The creators have remained faithful to the storyline but applied the most advanced cinematic technology to the remake. Some critics are questioning why this was necessary, saying that this version has lost the Disney magic of the original.
But whatever one’s opinion, there is no doubt that this remake will continue to do well at the box office. It has also had the wonderful effect of refocusing worldwide attention on the magnificence of the 'king of the jungle' and the need to continue to do everything possible to save this endangered species from extinction.
