The Beatles' 'Sgt. Pepper' is Britain's most popular album

The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” has been named the most popular British album in history.

According to The Official Charts Company, the band’s 1967 classic proved to be Britain’s favourite album based on physical sales, downloads and streams in the U.K.

The album is said to be the bands’ most experimental and inventive - with favourites like “With a Little Help from My Friends” and “A Day in the Life.”

The album beat Adele’s “21,” which took the second spot and the 1995 Oasis album ”(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”
