Computicket has announced via their website that some of South Africa’s top performers will come together on one stage on the 25th April “in a fitting tribute to one of the most iconic figures in South African music history.”
The concert is set to take place at the Emmarentia Botanical Gardens (Johannesburg) and will feature the likes of the Soweto Gospel Choir, Just Jinjer, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Karen Zoid, Zolani Mahola, Prime Circle, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Francois van Coke, Majozi, Kurt Darren, Young Mbazo, The Parlotones, Arno Carstens, Jesse Clegg, Matthew Mole and Cito. It’s an impressive list in anyone's book!
Johnny’s long-time friend, Sipho Mchunu will also be making a special appearance as well as Ella Mental and éVoid - both of whom performed alongside Johnny at the iconic Concert in the Park back in 1985.
As stated by Computicket, the money raised at the event will go to the Click Foundation, supporting ‘The Friends of Johnny Clegg’ charity which was established in December 2018.
The Click Foundation is an exceptional NPO that deploys online English literacy programmes to under-privileged primary schools across South Africa. In so doing they are not only addressing the literacy crisis but are also equipping young learners with technological skills.
