Shawn Mendes released the video for his latest single 'Treat You Better' that was co-written by Teddy Geiger who also co-wrote Mendes' fourth major single 'Stitches'.
The video for 'Treat You Better' portrays a girl who is stuck in an abusive relationship and regardless of the way her partner treats her, she refuses to leave him. Accompanying the storyline, Shawn Mendes acts out his anger while he belts out the lyrics of 'Treat You Better'.
Although the video is overly dramatic the end of the video does display the American National Domestic Violence Hotline, which assists the video and the rose coloured lenses of the young at heart, to convey the seriousness of abusive relationships.
