The team behind the making of the South African movie Moffie is sharing the good news on Facebook of not one but three British Independent Film Award nominations.
The movie has been nominated in the categories Best Director (Oliver Hermanus), Breakthrough Producer (Jack Sidey) and Best Cinematography (Jamie D Ramsay).
Based on the novel of the same name by André-Carl van der Merwe, the story centres on a young man called Nicolas who is struggling with his sexual identity when conscripted into the South African military during the apartheid years.
The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 1st December. The movie premieres in South Africa on 13th March 2020.
