The Olympic athlete decided to escape Dancing with the Stars rehearsals to pull off a special proposal for girlfriend Kayla Rae Reid. Lochte shared on Instagram, "Memories forever!!! #thelochtes #LA," as his fianc? showed off a stunning diamond ring in the Malibu Canyon. Kayla added, "Speechless. Absolutely beautiful. So in love with YOU."
Fans maybe scratching their heads, as the gold medalist was totally single when he was in Rio, competing in the Summer Olympics. However, the pair has been inseparable in recent month, as Ryan continues to compete on Dancing with the Stars, alongside partner Cheryl Burke.
It seems as if Ryan's Olympics scandal only strengthened the couple's bond. "My family says, ?Don't you think it's a little too soon?' I'm like, 'Can you put a time on love? Can you?'" Ryan recently shared with USA TODAY Sports. "When I realized this was ?the one' was when she stuck behind me through this. She still loves me and she's still right there with me."
The pair hit it off in a surprise run-in, in January 2016 when they met at a Los Angeles nightclub. Instantly, Ryan knew that she was something special. "From the very first time I met her, everything has like clicked,'' Ryan shared. "That's why I know I can propose to her because everything that's happened and she's been keeping me so positive. She doesn't care about my fame. She doesn't care about anything. All she cares about is me being happy."
