According to court documents obtained by People magazine, Paula Patton is claiming that she’s become concerned with Thicke’s drinking and drug use - as well as his form of disciplining their 6-year-old son, Julian.
Julian had reported spanking at his school and said he is afraid of his father. The school principal informed Thicke that a report had been made to the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services.
Patton requested that the judge limit Thicke’s joint custody of their son, however on Thursday, the request was denied.
In his declaration, Thicke claims he has not had any physical contact with Julian since 31 December, and Patton refuses to let them FaceTime in private. He further stated he has “on a very rare occasion, and only as a last resort,” used “light spanking” with Julian per his agreement with Patton during their marriage. Thicke insists he has “never exceeded age-appropriate discipline.”
Patton added in her declaration that Julian’s “behavior has become very concerning,” and that he has “become very tense,” disappears into “what appears to be a trance” and has developed a “slight stutter.”
The Department of Children and Family Services case is still ongoing.
